A head-on collision between a motorcycle and a car on one of the twisting roads up Palomar Mountain killed the biker today.

A motorcycle and a tan Toyota Echo crashed about 12:10 p.m. in front of the Oak Knoll Campground, at 31718 South Grade Road, according to the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire.

A caller told the CHP the motorcyclist was down off the roadside.

The rider died at the scene, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler said.

Schuler said the man and woman in the car were not injured.

I am confused. The title says "Temecula" yet the accident happened on the twisty road up Palomar Mountain. How is that related to "Temecula"? My concern of course is for the rider. Were they a Temecula resident?
