A truck hauling a single trailer flipped over today on the eastbound lanes of the Riverside (60) Freeway near the connector to the Interstate 215 and leaked fuel, forcing the California Highway Patrol to shut down the area for two hours.

Witnesses called 911 at 12:19 p.m. to report the crash and by 12:35 p.m., the connector had been closed so a hazardous materials team could clean up the fuel spill, the CHP said.

Firefighters helped the driver, who was not injured, out of the disabled truck. Gas leaked from one of the saddle tanks at a rate of about a gallon a minute, according to the CHP.
