TEMECULA – The Boojum Institute for Experiential Education’s Board of Directors announced the election of a new Board President, Judy Zulfiqar of Temecula. She succeeds Carrie Boutros after seven years of exemplary leadership as Board President during which time the organization nearly doubled in the number of students served. Boutros will continue her service to the board for the remainder of her term while serving in the capacity of Current Past President.

“We wish to thank Carrie for her invaluable service as Board President over the past seven years,” said Executive Director Kurt Merrill. “Her thoughtful leadership and tireless effort helped establish the vision, structure and future direction of our organization.”

Incoming president Judy Zulfiqar is the President and CEO of RKR Marketing and Advertising which has been serving the Temecula Valley and surrounding region since 2001. Judy is a long standing member of the Temecula and Murrieta Chambers of Commerce and is a founding member of the Inland Empire Marketing Association. She is also a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Temecula. Judy has been recognized as the “Ambassador of the Year” for the Temecula Chamber of Commerce, was awarded “Rotarian of the Year,” has received the “Heart 4 Humanity” award from the Riverside County Race for Humanity, and has been recognized as an “Inland Empire Leader of Distinction.”

“I am honored to be leading this esteemed group of individuals,” stated Judy Zulfiqar. “They represent a wide array of perspectives on outdoor education, and each brings to the board a deep commitment to extending our organization’s ability to deliver its mission. I look forward to working with them and with the Boojum staff to bring to fruition our 2014 vision of engaging over 5,000 youth a year in Boojum programs and services.”
