Temecula: Police arrest man for buying alcohol for underage decoy

Published on June 14, 2014 by Alex Groves

Officers from Temecula Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP), arrested a 30-year-old man Thursday evening after he agreed to purchase alcohol for an underage individual acting as a decoy.

Randy Abacherli of Temecula purchased alcohol at the request of the decoy, who was working with the police as part of a “shoulder tap” operation that took place between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The operation targets adults who purchase alcohol for people under 21 years of age, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.

Abacherli could now be facing a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service after purchasing alcohol for the underage person, according to Sgt. Chris Gaskins of the Temecula Police Department.

Anyone with questions about the program can contact Gaskins at 951-696-3128.

Sorry but this is a waste of time. Honestly the cops must be out of touch to not understand how juveniles really get alcohol. I normally fully support the city and its police officers but I am tired of seeing money and resources wasted on catching "johns" and those supposedly supplying alcohol. Think about it, I remember plenty of kids that knew which stores to buy alcohol from in each city. It wasnt by standers but employees. And a lot of kids knew. If I understand that why don’t they. I don’t condone these idiots choices to buy the kids alcohol but with all the drugs and other offenses such as shoplifting or burglary occuring I wish we focused the time and effort there. Dui checkpoints I would use as an example but that needs regular deterrents for idiots to stop drinking and driving. I would and have never gotten a hooker before but think its a little over the top to post their pictures or at least make sure every post about dui and burglary has the punks pictures as well because they have more of a negative impact on our community.
